For all my gal-pals who are convinced that chivalry is really dead, i've a got a piece of good news for you..........CHIVALRY IS STILL ALIVE AND KICKING!
- and chivalry doesnt necessarily take the form of a handsome knight in shining armour.
To illustrate my point, i'd like to ask a question: Have you ever been in the caught in situations where u had to struggle to keep balance on crowded buses while holding onto your bulky bag, many books, topped up with a dinosaur-heavy laptop; and u desperately prayed that somebody wld help before u fell on ur face, but somehow nobody did?
WEll guess what...some guy - who's a total stranger - did. He graciously asked if he cld help, and went on to take my laptop for me. And coz i came from a jc where majority of the guys in my batch didnt have even tht slightest bit of gentlemanly-ness to save their arses, i was stunned by that guy's offer....and subsequently said no (with a grateful smile, of coz) cuz it was to gd to be true and i figured i cld somehow (with)stand the ordeal of the entire bus journey. But nonetheless, i was very glad he offered.
He wasnt gd-looking, didnt exactly have a gd complexion, and didnt have a drool-worthy build. in fact, his dressing was to the pt of being lok-kok with the faded tee n jeans.
But did he pale in comparison to those good-lookers? he didnt. Coz the gdness of his heart shone through just by that simple gesture, n he proved the point that u didnt have to look gd to be a hero.
So, to all my guy friends who happen to read this, with or without my knowledge, i'd just like to let u know that it doesnt matter if u dont dress well as the guy sitting next to u or dont possess sharp noses, deep-set eyes and man-ly chins on ur faces.
So long as u con't to let the kindness in ur heart (that's if u have any, haha) show in the things that u do, u'll look better than anybody else arnd you.

when a person has to keep doing things he doesn't like, to the extent of feeling burdened and being startled out of sleep just by the mere thought of it, i think it is high time for that person to stop or find a way to just simply reject the job. And if that is not a choice, well then i think he'd better find some way to cope. Coz if not, he'll soon find himself skipping his way to the IMH, and playing with all the happening people there.

Just thought i'd share the lyrics of the song, a Bad Day...not by Daniel Powter, but Fuel. Tho i very much like Daniel Powter's version - it sounds much brighter, and gives u that optimistic feeling that things are just gonna be better- Fuel's comes across as more......erm......me, i guess. MAybe im secretly a pessimist while appearing to be an optimist on the surface. im waiting to be enlightened too, haha.
Had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"
She spilled her coffee,
broke her shoelace
Smeared the lipstick on her face
Slammed the door and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"
And she swears there's nothing wrong
I hear her playing that same old song
She puts me off and puts me on
And had a bad day again
She said I would not understand
Left a note and said, "I'm sorry I
had a bad day again"
She left a note and said, "I'm sorry I had a bad day..."
~ Fuel
And i really hope in the event that i DO lose control and let my bad mood affect the things i do or the way i behave and i dont seem to want to share, please...dont ever go away feeling bad about it. Coz sometimes, i just dont know how to tell people how and what i really feel; and other times, i find tt it only gets worse as i try to let it out and end up crying - alarming the poor soul who kindly offers to listen - so i just let it simmer inside and slowly die off as time passes.
For all those who have bothered to listen (and read) so far, i sincerely thank you:)

I had a bad day today. My mood was like the grey and gloomy-looking stupid haze, coz so many bad things happened to me.

First it was extreme embarrassment. I was so tired from preparing for my presentation last nite, I dozed off on the train while reading up soci articles for tutorial. My papers dropped right out of my hand, landed right smack at the centre of the train, and I had difficulty picking them up coz on my lap were a heavy bag and a chunky overweight laptop. Looked like a total nincompoop. Luckily, a Malay guy sitting opposite was helpful enough to help me pick them up – while the 2 Chinese women next to me saw me struggling and didn’t even bother to help even though they were the closest to my papers! So I think all that crap about lazy Malays that I learnt in Soci class was plain bullshit. Its only from daily incidents like this happening around can u truly see for yourselves how different people are really like, no?

And my day just spiraled down from there. I only realized i didn’t bring my phone to school, and felt so helpless without it. Can’t even msg anybody to tell them my day sucked big time! Worse still, dinner date with hs n the rest got cancelled coz hs cldnt reach me at all the whole day. Felt so mad with myself.

That’s not the end of it. Cheong KM put me into this horrible grp for some soci discussion today abt Merton’s strain theory on deviance in S’pore. The leader was conceited and had this stuck-up attitude about her, and the rest of them were basically sucking up to her like she was some fat cow with a gazillion rudders. Got thrown up to present the answers with her, and I totally lost my brain while I answered. I got lost in the middle of explaining my point abt the labeling theory. That unfeeling bitch didn’t even help, Cheong KM was um-chioing like I was the total imbecile up there, and I cldnt do anything to help myself. Felt so horrible, I felt so tiny and wretched. But thank goodness Irene was there to make it all a lil easier for me. I’ve been feeling so alone in Soci classes coz the ppl there were just trying to act intelligent all the time, which stresses me out all the more.

And the final blow? I screwed up my Social Psych presentation. I caught my tutor stifling a yawn while I presented. And my brain refused to work as I spoke. I forgot all the stuff I stayed up to rehearse the night before. Heh, and seriously, what else have I not forgotten? Since my grading depended on my classmates’ evaluations, I think im basically finished this sem. Scored under average for Devt Psych too. To think i like the module:(

Had such a strong urge to cry on my way home, I kept playing Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars to soothe myself abit. But it only further strengthened my urge to cry. And I dunno whether it was because I didn’t have time to buy food to eat between my 6 consecutive hrs of lessons, I had slight gastric just now. It was such a horrible feeling wanting to eat, but unable to do so coz the stomach says no.

Tell me, how can I not cry on a day like this?

the day was pretty good to me yday, i went to guinea-pig for prof chua fk's expt and guess wad! - i received a 5-buck renumeration! haha..its cheap thrill i know, but considering that i took a cab from Clementi just to be in time for his expt, i think it's a pretty gd deal! At least that sponsored me for my calamari lunch at munchies later on. All it took to make me succumb to my food craving was an all-knowing wink from pear at the SoC lift. And i marvel at my high level of self-discipline:P

And yes, have i ever mentioned that i LURVE Deepavali? It holds a deep meaning for me...and my gut, coz that's when my very kind neighbour neighbour next door would send over one of the best chicken briyani - with plenty of achar in tow:D (The Prata place down at thomson sells drool-worthy chicken briyani too!)

i've got a feeling i'll be putting on some weight this month!

On a hazy but breezy night, Jiayan visited her blog, only to experience intense trauma as she finds her tagboard.........GONE!!! Where is her tagboard?

But feeling less traumatised now, and more intrigued, she embarks on the journey to solve the mystery of the missing tagboard.

Stay tuned.

sent in my bursary form today...hope i can get the bursary so i wont have to worry about money all the time.

Been less busy this week, but i've been getting pretty uptight about the soci take home mid-term exam that'll take place over the weekend, starting like ... now. Read the question already, and im feeling jittery just thinking abt how im gonna tackle the essay. Don't really like the idea of getting a bloody B- again when i know i've tried very hard to construct a logical n soci-like reflection. My self-esteem takes a beating everytime i go for tutorials.

Maybe the tension was responsible for my feeling low throughout the week too. I even pangsehed jiahui coz of the exam. Wth. Wad a beeyatch i am. Sorry brudder!

Heh...and i just noticed its friday the 13th today. Makes no difference to me though. It's just like any other day.

Last night, as i looked out of the window to see the beautiful extra-round moon that they were talking about during the news on tv, i was shocked. Why?

Coz there was NO MOON, i saw only haze!!

And we're supposed to be celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival where the main star of the night is...wait a minute...the MOON?? How ironic! I say we'd do good writing a petition to the Indonesian govt to return the moon to us. ( and if they're really smart, they'd know we really mean for them to CLEAN UP THEIR ACT and give us some FRESH AIR!!!) But while they continue to take immediate action for the next 10 years to stop their never-ending forest fires, i guess we, suay enough to be a stone throw away from Indonesia, would have to breathe haze, eat haze and drink haze for the time being. NO wonder i find myself having more bi-sai lately.

And so, with a new high of 150 on the PSI, i wish everyone a *cough cough..choke* Smokey Mid-Autumn Festival!

OH MAN. If yday wasnt a bad day for me, i dont know what else counts.

Firstly, i got startled out of slumberland at 7am with the rude, shocking realisation that i havent done my term paper, due yday at 2pm and i only had up to 1130 to smoke something out. I practically jumped up and out of bed in one single swift action, also swiftly accompanied by a vulgarity. Nice start.

Secondly, there was STILL the bruis-y pain on my lower left eyelid which has been bugging me since Saturday night. It developed into a slight, reddish swell in my eyelid (not a good sign), i panicked and dripped lotsa Optrex into it hoping it would go away. But it's still there=(

Thirdly, our performance at the SAVE event (reads Students' Action against Violence to Earth...or something like that) could have been better, given that we've performed the songs for donkey times. (i bet the others wld scream if they've to perform the same repertoire again. or maybe some of them will decide to add in some smoke to the songs.haha i dunno)

Anw, there's gotta be some good out of all the bad right?

If i hadn't taken up the gig, i wouldn't have known that the distance between the singers and the monitor makes a difference to the sound;

Nor would i have known that my dragging of the word 'Firrrreeee' was cringe-y (and i shldnt do it again:p);

and that the way we handled our performance, despite the limitations, was considered professional.(well, the guy manning the sound system said so.)

And finally, not have known that Chemistry majors can, in fact, write Psych term papers:p
