Have had to make hard decisions this week.
And one of them has to do with Einstein - i've decided to drop it for another module that i've successfully appealed for. I've always prided myself for being able to take challenges and persevere with it, but having given up this time is creating cognitive dissonance that's making me feel uncomfortable enough to blog about it. Moreover, dropping this module would also mean i'd be pangseh-ing my friend with whom i was supposed to have done the term essay with, so im feeling alot of guilt as well.
Usually, I would've given in to the emotional pressures; but i've decided to do it a little differently this time round, hence the rational decision to take the obviously easier route and save myself the depressive episodes that i foresee will happen during the semester. Am crossing my fingers in the hope i've made the right decision!
I heard this number by Corinne Bailey Rae a couple of years back, but hearing it again... let's just say it's soothes the soul.
If you've had a long day/week, enjoy=)
LIKE A STAR
Plus. Lotsa lurve to Z for sharing her Lifehouse and the Script albums! Really glad to get to have both my albums of the moment;)
To the thief who took away my thumbdrive from the CL training room, i hope you get your just desserts for what you did.
Haven't your mother taught you to return things that don't belong to you? Haven't she ever told you that taking somebody else's things without permission is no different from stealing? What has she been teaching you all this time anyway? To steal?
Even if it's no fault of your mother, surely the education that you've received all these years would have taught you a thing or two about returning what does not belong to you? Or have you been so engrossed in scoring A's that your knowledge has totally engulfed your conscience? I am disgusted to know that thieves like you exist on our campus. You have no right to call yourself an educated individual because you can't even tell right from wrong. Even the nursery kid i take care of at the afterschool care centre knows that stealing is wrong. So what excuses do you have to take my belongings!
SHAME ON YOU.
And if you think you got away with it just because no one else saw, think again. Because somebody up there has been watching and knows just what you did. You'd better be praying very, very hard that retribution doesn't exist, you shameless thief.
Been feeling really down all day because of so many things, i can't keep track anymore. Essentially, im now feeling low and i don't know the reasons why, so im just gonna sit it out and wait for it to pass while i try to do my readings... For now i only hope for the boys from China to mysteriously disappear from my home so i can finally have the peace and quiet i need.
Gosh...it's sad to have to pretend that im at home when it sure doesnt feel like one.
Cognitive Neuropsych...
is a tough module to handle, though interesting. Already in the first lesson we were required to know the PALPA model by heart...and we have about 50 articles to cover for the module? o_0. The thing i like about it is that my prof will be sharing with us local(!!) case studies of speech and language impaired individuals, which is super rare considering tt almost all the journal articles i've been reading are all from the West. How cool is that!
Social Psych...
the module for which i got the timing wrong. The lecturer's interesting...from the looks of it, i'll probably be expecting quite abit of referencing from Naruto during seminars because she's such a big fan of the anime. And i like her module assessment criteria - it's a good sign.
Child Abnormal...
i like my lecturer! He's currently a counsellor with the NUS Counselling Ctr, and i like the way he speaks, cus he's got a nice Fillipino accent. haha. What i don't like though, is that i've already got three chapters of the tbk to cover before his lesson next Wed -.-
Counselling...
is intimidating. The essay is going to be a very 'thinking' paper, and it takes up 40% in the marking criteria (?!!!!), which is scary. Im glad for a very experienced professor (he's won national teaching awards for two consecutive years in Australia), but after hearing what he has to say about the local counselling psychology scene, i felt like i've wasted four yrs studying in NUS because there practically are no prospects at all for a lousy Honours student like me...and maybe i shld be saving up to further my studies in Australia. Hmm.
Einstein's Relativity and Quantum Weirdness...
is a weird module indeed. I had a strong urge to burst out crying by the end of the first content lecture on Thursday. Even with A level Physics, i had so much difficulty grasping what the lecturer was talking about... Though i had a lot of fun talking about Schrodinger's Cat with CharmY on Tues. Since the cat is both alive and dead, are we alive, or might we also be dead, only living together in the world of the dead? How would you be able to know that you're alive without living people around you to act as your frame of reference? Are you awake, or are you merely thinking that you're awake?
Im so gonna have fun irritating the crap out of my Cog Neuropsych classmates come Monday=D
It's now 12.39pm in the afternoon, my 2nd day of school in my final semester.
I never thought this would ever happen to me, and it never did in my past seven semesters in NUS, but half an hour ago i happily skipped into class, only to find out it was the wrong class at the wrong time "-.-
So here i am, blogging in my secret computer lab in the CL about my embarrassing blunder.
Embarrassing, because i had friends in that class (oh gawd, i even waved to them) and all of them - including Dr Elliot, who took me for Evolutionary Psych last sem - saw me skip into class, wander arnd a little in search for my friend Clare, and subsequently drag a chair across the room so i cld sit next to her, only to scoot out of the room again in the next minute cus it was History and Systems class i had skipped into, not Social Psych that i was supposed to attend at 3pm.
*cue to laugh*
...Everyday is a new and exciting adventure for HJY.
I can't believe myself. Fancy getting cranky over school in my fourth year. Think the trauma inflicted by school last semester is affecting me more than i expected=S
I don't know what the semester brings, i have absolutely no idea if this is going to be better or worse. I sure hope it's going to be the former.
Gosh, how badly i need the strength to pull through this.
*crosses fingers*
Signing out,

Q: Why did the taxi driver stop for CharmY and Jia Yan when all the other taxi drivers wouldn't?
A: Because he is Valiant Khong.
...and i suddenly had a brilliant idea of how to go about naming my sons in future. And as the son of a highly-educated mother (and a very capable father, no less), he deserves only a name that supercedes that of any other man on earth. So for my first-born, i'll name him Sir Gallant Courageous Wise Dashing XXX - my all-rounder of a son.
Just kidding=D
(as u can probably tell by now, im trying to burn off the remaining excessive adrenaline in my body so i can finally get to slp)
Just a reminder btw, for those of u out there who still take public transport... When in doubt of your taxi driver's age category, address him as 'Brudder', not 'Uncle'. Not only would you make him the happiest driver on the road, he might even waive off your midnight charges for that=P
PS: Thanks to Uncle Daniel too for agreeing to rescue the three abandoned SCBs at the airport!
PPS: Happy Birthday once again, Suhui! (Though i think u'd probably agree with me that birthdays would suck from this point on...) Hope you'll wake up to find Carlisle Cullen next to you when u wake up the next morning, if he hasnt alr. haha.
Have just embarked on a new mission - Mission: Fit into my Sexy Jeans Again.
Hope four sets of 30 crunches and 30 lunges every other day works...before i hit 23 in March. Wish me luck!
Yay! My laptop decided to behave after two days of all that monkey business, so my blogposts are back to normal=D *heaves a sigh a relief*
Been caught up in the bidding fever for the past few days, which was unexpectedly stressful because the modules i want happen to be the popular ones i.e. high bid points...and i hadn't been preallocated any modules (which makes me question if the module preference exercise is of any use in the first place). I had a broker to bid on my behalf, so i found myself bringing up-to-date bidding stats to my equally-jittery classmates who were also bidding, but did not have the foresight to engage a broker like i did. *muahaha*
But despite the happiness of not having to deal with all this bidding crap anymore, im not quite looking forward to graduation actually. Because while i'll be leaving behind the dreadful mugging (omg im so done with that alr), i am also aware that i'll be leaving behind all the other things about school that i love, when the time comes for me to do the customary toss of the mortarboard...
The thought of having to say goodbye soon... leaves a heavy heart at this moment.
