I don't know if anyone shares my sentiments, but i sometimes get really annoyed at how i can't get up the buses because some selfish idiot just refuses to pack in and move to the back like the considerate passenger should. I'd get pissed, and i'd silently scream expletives at those people in my head... but never once did i do something about it because i didn't have the guts to do it. it was always only after the incident that i'd think about the 'should have's and 'would have's
Then last thursday, the bus thing happened again. only difference is that this time, i decided that i've had enough of being passive all the time and took action. So i marched over to where the back of the bus was, furiously waved to the people near the back of the bus to move in, before marching back to the front door where my classmates were so amused by what i did, they started clapping "-.-
But seriously, how difficult it is to get out of the selfish 'it's all about me, me and me" mindset and spare a thought for others? Some might say that because this world is so unfair, it's each for his own and so it's only instinctive that one protects his own interests before others...but i'd like to think that that kind of thinking is precisely what leads to all that ugly behaviour in the first place.
Nonetheles, i was just glad i did what i thought i should and managed to get all six of us into the bus=)
YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH THIS.
Ling was played this during Reporting Stats lecture and i had to stop myself from watching it cus i cld hardly suppress the laughing. Considering i am posting this up at the risk of jinxing my own driving in future, im saying that even if u doubt my sense of humour, WATCH IT!
Took me some time to find this one. Had been searching for it a couple of yrs back, and i gave up cus i kept looking for it using the wrong keywords...like 'shoes', 'shoe shine' =.= wth.
Was in the cab with CharmY after presentation ytd when she mentioned that she sang this in choir (!!!). I like the groove, and the vp and bass lines for this one, so am gonna try transcribing it once im done with my resume editing and grad trip planning!
Gorillaz - 19 2000 (Soulchild Remix)
Had only a little more than a wink of sleep the whole of last night cus i was rushing through my article presentation for cog neuropsych. quite abit to do in very limited time, for NO MARKS. But its okay, i take joy in the fact that i can say i read at least one of the readings for this week=D Had taken a damn long time on my social psych thought paper before that cus i didn't have anything to say about the article in question and i had to crack my head to think of intellectual things to discuss about the paper so i can impress the prof. No wonder she calls it a thought paper-.- Im quite happy with what i wrote though, let's hope for a good grade.
Now feeling oddly zen, possibly cus my brain's overrun by cotton candy and i cant exactly think. im beginning to wonder if i even slpt at all, cus i woke up before my alarm rang (i set it to ring after an hr). too stressed, i think. it felt like i overslept so i just jumped right out of bed and headed back to work. right now im thinking of catching bride wars at vivo after class by myself - i hope it's still showing - and pray the show's funny enough to keep me awake. believe me u, if i cld i wld catch benjy button instead cus that i get the idea that i'd appear more intellectual telling ppl i watched benjy butt than bride wars. gosh im just rambling nonsense. haha
But one thing's for sure. im absolutely thrilled to realise that this year will be my last year spending Valentine's day with my assignments. -grins-
Been especially distracted this week, because it's THE week.
NOT.
To be brutally honest, i actually have a secret desire to kick down the damned stupid, stupid-looking arches and play 'jump and pull' with those annoying things hovering over my head everytime i walk past them.
But just in case u think im the only one saying all these cus im bitter about Valentine's day, u're so WRONG.
- Cus the taller dudes in Arts don't seem to take to them too.
And to the insensitive moron who had the cheek to say this to a poor gal pal of mine on Mon:
... ... ...
Ah, im SO in the mood for LOVE!
Have you ever felt like life was out to punk you sometimes? Well i do, and i know the feeling oh so well. Because whenever i say i'll never do something, it always finds ways to make me take back my words, and then i'd feel like one hell of a damned fool.
Like the time i told myself i would never be late for my appointments again - four years later, im still telling myself the same thing. It's only gotten much better recently, ironically because i stopped telling myself that and simply got down to doing it.
And then there was the new year resolutions. Two yrs ago, just before the start of 2008, i had resolved to sleep early i.e. before 1am for at least 3 of the 7 days in the week. And up to the last day of 2008, I was still getting one of those deliciously harsh lectures from Mummy dearest for staying up till 3am to do my resume. See why i hadn't drawn up any resolutions for this year?
The best instance of them all:
I remember telling myself the day just before school started that i wouldn't let myself cry or get upset so easily anymore. I honestly thought i'd get there if i managed my life better, so i walked the talk - drew out my own monthly planners for the semester, diligently noted down all my deadlines and meetings, planned my study time, stayed away from negative energies, hanging out more often with my new-found old and hopelessly cheerful classmates etc. And i honestly believed that things were getting better because i sensed that i was finally in control of myself and my life...
...Until i found myself fighting to hold back my tears from raining into my packet of vegetarian beehoon this morning, and then heading to the student centre just before i left for school to ask mum for a hug because i was feeling so sad. And all that, because i read something the day before that i really shldnt have seen and i couldn't stop thinking about it. But then again it was my fault, i shld've stuck to my readings instead. -.-
Heh, im thinking that perhaps i should sincerely wish for a better life on my birthday this year. Maybe then i'll stop getting punk'd.
WARNING: BLASTING RADIO AHEAD.
Hope my newly-embedded jukebox didnt freak u out. Made me jump the first time round cus the player started blasting itself, quite loudly, and i was on my earphones=S
And because i've been listening to so many songs lately, i can't resist posting some here.
Joshua Radin - The Fear You Won't Fall
And yup, if u thought u've heard this before, it was featured on Grey's Anatomy S2. Says alot abt what i've been up to in my free time=P
The Script - Man Who Can't Be Moved
Discovered this one last year while mugging for exams... Love this one.
Face the music!
Whoa, feels like i haven't been writing in a long time when it's just 1 week??
Been pretty caught up with readings lately because these days, not doing your readings before seminars equates to three hours of Psych lessons in Greek plus frantic, mindless copying of notes - only to find out at the end of it that you haven't got the slightest blinking idea of what you've been furiously scribbling. It wasn't this bad last sem...but oh wells. im just glad im finally on par instead of playing catch-ups!
Explains why i've been rather dormant online too, because out of my 4-day week, i have evening classes from 6-9pm from tues thru' thurs.. My schedule makes it so much more sensible for me to just wash up and head straight to bed when i get home, so i just go with the flow. And because i take an awfully long time to finish my readings, it becomes the first thing that comes to my mind when i wake up and there's always a compulsion to get them out of the way before i do anything else. Yes, im showing the symptoms of being a hopeless high-strung loser of an undergrad, and i have begun to accept that that's the way i am. haha...
Sure hope everyone's fine and well in the meantime!
